How Does F1's Oscar Piastri Really Feel About Fellow Aussie & Newcomer Jack Doohan?

Australians are prominently featured in the upcoming 2025 Formula 1 season. Among the prestigious 12 spots in the paddock, two drivers — McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Alpine’s Jack Doohan — hail from Australia.

While Oscar has been racing in the F1 circuit since 2023, this year marks Jack's debut as a full-time driver after serving as an F1 reserve driver. With two Australian stars in the mix, is there any rivalry between the two compatriots?

“I’ve got a good relationship with Jack,” Oscar shares with PEDESTRIAN.TV.

“We’ve known each other for many years and I wish him all the best. I’m sure he will enjoy his first Australian Grand Prix as an F1 driver.”

As the 2025 F1 season gears up to begin in March, the Melbourne native is intensely focused on his training regimen.

While some might rely on lucky charms or rituals to secure a spot on a Grand Prix podium, the 23-year-old reveals he doesn't adhere to any superstitions, except for hard work and commitment.

“I’m not really superstitious, so there’s nothing really,” he laughs.

“I usually get in the car from the left-hand side, but that's simply because I find it more comfortable than entering from the right.”

Leading up to the 2025 F1 season, the energetic driver has teamed up with Grill’d to introduce his own burger — aptly named the Oscar Piastri Burger.

Featuring a beef patty on a charcoal bun with papaya sesame seeds, chipotle mayo, crispy bacon, aged cheddar, shredded carrot, lettuce, and onion, it promises to be not just intriguing but truly tasty.

When asked if he’d consider trying new toppings — such as adding pineapple to his burger like boxer Harry Garside — he wasn’t fully sold on the idea.

“Can’t say I’ve tried that yet, but I will let you know when I do,” he quipped.

In truth, Oscar has more pressing matters than experimenting with the combination of sweet pineapple on a savory dish. His main focus is on his upcoming race in March.

“I’m massively excited to head to Albert Park in March, race in my hometown again and hopefully bring home a good result,” he says.

“It’s always a super special event and the support that I receive is phenomenal.”

Fans can grab the Oscar Piastri Burger from their local Grill’d outlet or order it for delivery from February 18 to March 31, or until supplies last. Moreover, if you're eager to uncover the real dynamics between the F1 drivers, you can catch seasons one to six of Drive To Survive on Netflix.
