Get ready to don your Akubra and embrace the red dust, because Virgin Australia is launching new flights to Uluru, and to mark the occasion, it's offering incredibly cheap one-way trips to the red centre.
Currently, Virgin Australia is embarking on its inaugural journey on the new Melbourne to Uluru flight route. Tomorrow, it will celebrate another milestone with the first flight from Brisbane to Uluru. Yes, more of you will soon have easy access to one of Australia's most stunning locations.
In honor of this launch, Virgin Australia is offering Aussies some fantastic deals. Until 11.59pm AEST this Saturday, 8 June, one-way flights to Uluru will be priced at just $119. That's enough reason to rethink your weekend plans and set your alarms for 4am to catch the sunrise each morning.
This new service from Virgin Australia is part of a collaboration between Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia and the NT Government. It aims to bring around 62,000 seats to the Red Centre each year and boost tourism in the region.
Moreover, Ayers Rock Resort is also offering great deals, with accommodation starting at just $230+ per night for stays of three nights or more. This includes a complimentary buffet breakfast for two, because everyone needs a good meal before spending three hours exploring Kings Canyon.
Having visited the Red Centre myself and returned transformed, I feel a strong urge to revisit my beloved Uluru once more.
“We are proud to be connecting Australians to Uluru as part of our ongoing mission to provide more value and choice to travellers,” stated Virgin Australia CEO Jayne Hrdlicka in a statement.
“We believe the return of Virgin Australia Uluru services will be exciting news for our staff, tourism partners, guests, and our over 12-million Velocity members, who can now earn and redeem Points on these flights.”
Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus praised the new flight route, noting that it would increase awareness of the Red Centre as a beautiful travel destination among Aussies.
“This new service will not only offer convenient connections between Melbourne and Uluru, but also facilitate travel from Tasmania, New South Wales, the ACT, and international destinations through our single terminal precinct,” she remarked in a statement.
“Having Virgin Australia operate this route is excellent news for travelers, as it offers more options and opportunities to explore the vast interior of our country.”
And my vast interior is simply THRILLED at the prospect. Gimme gimme gimme some Uluru after midnight.
