Uber Is Becoming A One Stop Shop For Your Next Aussie Road Trip With Uber Rent

After fleeing from all my issues and spending a few years traveling, there's still one thing I detest passionately: renting a car. Scouring various rental sites to secure the best deal and being bombarded with additional fees at every turn is my personal nightmare.

I've experimented with all sorts of options – like Airbnb-style car rentals while abroad – and found myself in some truly dreadful situations.

For instance, traveling in the smallest car imaginable and being overwhelmed by backpacks, or worrying about being stuck in the middle of the Utah desert without any roadside assistance. After too many risky trials and tribulations, I'm now convinced that it's safer (and frankly easier!) to stick with the tried-and-true car rental companies!

Listen, I'm a straightforward gal, and I'm also a bit lazy. So, when Uber's new service landed in my inbox today, I was intrigued – it's called Uber Rent, and it handles all the heavy lifting for you when you're planning a road trip.

It essentially acts as a rental hub, where you can input the address from which you wish to start your journey, and it takes care of everything for you.

It compares prices from nearly 30 vehicle rental companies, such as Budget, Avis, Thrifty, and more. You can filter by price, availability, and location (there are over 1700+ of them!) and choose anything from a luxury Tesla to a tiny, affordable sedan to get you on the road.

You have the option to pay in advance for a discount or settle the payment later when you pick up the car from the rental location.

The process is quite straightforward. (Image: Uber)

What caught my attention was the fact that you only need to be 18 to use Uber Rent, which is fantastic. There's a note that there might be some additional fees if you're under 25, but it depends on the car company you choose.

And since you're not borrowing a car from some sketchy acquaintance or stranger, there's added peace of mind knowing you'll get from A to B safely.

Honestly, I'm a passenger princess, so I won't be doing any driving. But I WILL make sure my partner learns how to use Uber Rent so he can whisk me away on the holidays I deserve.
