Katy Perry has been experiencing quite a challenging time recently, hasn't she? From her high-profile divorce from Orlando Bloom to a series of career setbacks and even an unfortunate space trip, it's clear she hasn't had the best year. However, it seems she's found a way to move past the public eye: enjoying a date with Justin Trudeau, the charming and newly single former prime minister of Canada.

On Wednesday (local time), TMZ unveiled the news, revealing that Katy and Justin were seen dining together on Monday night at the popular Montreal restaurant, Le Violon.

The gossip enthusiasts even captured a brief video from the evening, showing Perry literally beaming at Trudeau with, as the scientific term goes, full-on heart eyes.

According to TMZ, the two enjoyed cocktails, shared a variety of dishes (including lobster), and even visited the kitchen afterward to express their gratitude to the staff. How sweet!

So, was this an official date? Or simply two friends sharing a meal? It's difficult to determine. However, they certainly didn't attempt to hide, suggesting they were comfortable being seen together in what appeared to be a very romantic setting.

Both stars are currently healing from recent heartbreaks, with Justin having separated from his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, earlier in 2023. In addition, he announced in January that he would be stepping down as prime minister and leader of Canada’s Liberal Party. So, in reality, he's recovering from two significant losses.

As for Katy and Orlando, they addressed widespread breakup rumors earlier this month with a joint statement.

The statement, released simultaneously to Us Weekly, reads: “In light of the significant interest and discussion surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been transitioning their relationship over the past several months to concentrate on coparenting.

“They will continue to appear together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
