Just days after our curiosity was piqued by photos of their intimate dinner, an insider has revealed the scoop on what’s really happening between Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau. 

In case you missed it, the pop sensation and the former Canadian Prime Minister — yes, the FORMER CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER — were seen sharing a meal in Montreal this week, following their respective separations from Orlando Bloom and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.

Speculation about a potential romance between this unexpected duo was heightened overnight, when Trudeau was spotted with his daughter, Ella-Grace, at Perry’s Montreal concert. 

Unsurprisingly, the internet was abuzz with excitement over this unlikely pairing — almost reaching the frenzy of Perry’s infamous space flight.

Now, however, a source has stepped forward to quell the imaginings of those feverishly writing fanfics about this potential couple. 

“As of right now, Katy and Justin are simply enjoying each other’s company,” a source told The Daily Mail, noting that if there were any romantic developments, Perry’s friends would be the first to know. 

“She hasn’t mentioned it being anything more, and she’s usually quite open about her feelings, so if something were happening, she’d inform her close friends,” the insider revealed. 

“But right now, it is purely a friendship.”

The friendship itself is intriguing, as it’s hard to imagine what topics they might discuss. The Canadian political scene? Cupcake bras? Or perhaps something completely unexpected?

The source further mentioned that Perry isn’t ready for a relationship just yet, especially with a former PM, given the recentness of her breakup with Bloom just last month. 

“She’s not looking to date anyone right now, as she needs time to heal from separating from Orlando,” they stated, with another insider agreeing that Perry “just became single a short while ago” and isn’t “ready to fall for someone new so soon.” 

That said, the singer reportedly hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of a romance with Trudeau, with sources suggesting Fireworks could indeed be in their future. 

“Could things change? Certainly, but right now it’s up to Katy. No relationship as of yet,” they noted, with another source agreeing that “it might develop, but it’s currently just two single people having dinner and enjoying conversation.”
