Look At Moi: Magda Szubanski Is The Logie Hall Of Fame’s Newest Inductee

TV icon and comedian Magda Szubanski is poised to be honored by entering the Logies Hall of Fame, just before the 65th annual Australian awards ceremony takes place this Sunday.

Szubanski, who gained fame for her standout role as Sharon Strzelecki in Kath and Kim, has just been revealed as the latest Hall of Fame inductee by the event organizers. This recognition celebrates her extensive TV career and her unrivaled knack for making audiences laugh.

The esteemed actress will receive this accolade at the 2025 Logies, which will kick off at The Star in Sydney on Sunday with Sam Pang as the host

This event will mark just the fifth occasion a woman has been inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame, following last year’s honoree Rebecca Gibney, along with Ruth Cracknell, Noni Hazlehurst, and Kerri-Anne Kennerley

While Szubanski is famously known as Kath and Kim’s most beloved netballer, her career actually began in the ’80s with sketch shows such as The D-Generation and Full Frontal

In addition to her television work, she has graced the big screen in movies like Babe and Happy Feet, and has brought her comedic talent to a series of iconic Uber Eats ads

“[This] is not merely an acknowledgment of her illustrious career but a tribute to her exceptional personality and enduring rapport with Australian audiences,” TV Week expressed when announcing Szubanski’s induction on Saturday.

This announcement comes just months after the comedian revealed she had been diagnosed with stage four blood cancer, sharing the heartbreaking news on social media in May.

“It's a serious situation, but I've started one of the finest treatments available… and I'm fortunate to be receiving top-tier care here in Melbourne,” Szubanski stated.

The 65th edition of the Logie Awards will be broadcast on Sunday from 7pm, with Ally Langdon, Hamish Blake, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, Lynne McGranger, Poh Ling Yeow, and Sonia Kruger all in the running for the coveted Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality.

Elsewhere, Apple Cider Vinegar leads with the highest total nominations (8), with all nominees gearing up for what promises to be Pang’s roast-filled (and hilarious) monologue.
