Well, it appears we're in for yet another year without Splendour, folks. The cherished Byron Bay music festival has announced it will be taking another year off, and Splendour In The Grass 2025 is officially off the calendar.
Splendour organisers shared the news with their dedicated fans through a statement on Instagram: “Hey gang, sorry for the silence, but we finally took a little holiday ourselves.
“The rest of the festival team has been busy crafting some incredible new experiences for music enthusiasts in Australia, but Splendour needs a bit more time to rejuvenate, so we won’t be returning this year.”
They describe it as a “breather” to allow them to come back “even bigger and better when the moment is right”.

This marks the second consecutive year that Splendour has been cancelled. Last year's cancellation occurred less than a week after tickets were released. The 2024 lineup was supposed to include some major artists like Kylie Minogue, G Flip, and Tash Sultana, but it was all halted due to what organisers described as “unexpected events”.
Live Nation, the major force behind Splendour, expressed to Rolling Stone their support for the festival’s choice to take a break: “The festivals team has our full backing to bring Splendour in the Grass back when they believe it’s appropriate,” they stated.
“Meanwhile, we’re developing exciting new initiatives to support artists and the industry, while also meeting the expectations of music fans and we look forward to sharing more in the upcoming months.”

The comments section on Instagram was quite varied, with some fans losing hope.
“Stop lying @splendourinthegrass you’re never coming back,” one skeptical festival-goer commented.
Another user remains hopeful: “Keep working hard behind the scenes, 2026 will be the year Aussie music festivals make their return.”
“Good things come to those who wait,” another user remarked.
So, will Splendour ever make a comeback? Who can say! But I, for one, will be keeping my fingers crossed and my gumboots ready for action.
