Brisbane and Hollywood are having a crossover, and honestly, it's making my head spin a bit. In an unexpected blend of two worlds that are miles apart both geographically and culturally, I present to you A-list celebrity Matt Damon giving his thumbs up to Queensland’s cherished event, The Ekka.
In a video shared on The Ekka‘s social media (a must-follow), the 52-year-old actor confirmed that he is indeed a huge admirer of the Royal Queensland Show, held annually to display enormous vegetables, cattle, and sell a staggering number of show bags.
“I love it here, it’s our second year in a row coming,” he said, donning a Stone & Wood hat (!!!!!!!!!). “It has become a family tradition. Thanks for having us back.”
HUMBLE WHOLESOME KING.
Why am I tearing up at the show bag stand?
The social media genius (who surely deserves an extra serving of dagwood dog for securing this interview) boldly asked Matt Damon to verify that it was indeed him speaking.
“This is Matt Damon,” he confirmed.
While it might seem odd to see a Hollywood heavyweight navigating through goat droppings at the Ekka baby animal nursery, it’s not entirely surprising considering he now somewhat calls Australia home. Damon is part of the celebrity wave that has settled in Byron Bay after purchasing property in the area.
Unverified, but we suspect Chris Hemsworth earns a commission every time he closes a real estate deal for a fellow famous friend.
Growing up on the Gold Coast, I always thought events like The Ekka were super cheesy. But if Matt Damon thinks it’s cool, sign me up for the Gravatron, I’m in!
