As the new financial year kicks off, if you're eager to indulge yourself with your annual tax return, you're in luck—Virgin Australia has just launched an impressive end-of-financial-year sale.
Virgin Australia is offering a whopping one million flights to Australia's most beloved domestic and international holiday spots, so you can book flights instead of catching feelings.
"With sale fares beginning at a mere $49, and with tax-return season underway, Australians can plan their next getaway without straining their finances," Virgin Australia's chief commercial officer Dave Emerson commented on the sale.
If you're aiming to escape the chill of winter, there are affordable flights available to the Sunshine Coast, Cairns, and the Gold Coast—or you can venture beyond Australia's borders to destinations like Fiji, Bali, or Tokyo.
You can travel from Sydney to Byron Bay or the Sunshine Coast for just $49 and $69 each way, respectively. Other economical options include Melbourne to Adelaide starting at $79, Sydney to Hamilton Island from $115, or Brisbane to Hobart from $125.

The sale features domestic Economy Lite fares available both ways, with all tickets qualifying for Velocity Frequent Flyer points and Status Credits.
International flights start at $405 to Queenstown, $339 to Denpasar, and $499 to Nadi. Additional destinations include Port Vila (Vanuatu), Apia (Samoa), and Haneda (Tokyo).
Numerous travel dates are available from July 30, 2024, to June 3, 2025—making it worthwhile to explore options if you have vacation plans over the next year.
Virgin Australia's extensive sale follows news that the aviation giant Qatar Airways is considering acquiring a 20 percent stake in the airline, a move that could significantly impact Australia's aviation sector—and the costs of international flights.
We're hopeful that international flights become more affordable since, as of now, Australia holds one of the highest passport prices globally.
The sale is active until midnight AEST on Monday, July 8—or until tickets are sold out.
