Fresh, scathing royal-tea has been spilled, and this time, there's buzz that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's £100million (AUD$200million) deal with Netflix has reportedly been terminated.

According to UK publication The Sun, Netflix has allegedly opted not to renew its contract with the royal pair once it concludes in September. It was also mentioned that both parties have agreed to keep the matter discreet, avoiding any official announcement about the contract's end.

This news follows the streaming service's release of Harry’s sporty passion project, Polo — a five-episode docu-series focused on professional polo — which garnered only 500,000 views over six months. Additionally, Meghan’s lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, did not make it into Netflix’s top 300 programs, securing only the 383rd spot with 5.3 million viewers.

“The deal is done; no more shows will be made,” an insider shared with The Sun.

“Netflix feels they’ve extracted all they can from the couple.

“Netflix was strategic in that they garnered a significant number of viewers for the first documentary series, understanding that it would likely be the peak of content from the Montecito duo.

“They’re not dissatisfied with the outcome — they achieved those initial hits and produced one of the most discussed shows ever.”

The insider also noted that there was “no animosity” between the parties. However, they claimed Netflix was unwilling to “play second fiddle” to Meghan’s brand, As Ever, which now holds her primary attention.

“Publicly, there will be no statement, and naturally, if circumstances change significantly, they’d consider a one-off project in the future,” the source continued.

“But for Harry, particularly, this is a setback. It represents a substantial loss of revenue.”

In a playful twist of events, some experts suggested to the Daily Mail that the streaming giant might want “to keep a vague hand in” with the couple in case Meghan and Harry ever separate, so they can be first in line for a post-relationship docu-series. SPICY.

While the collaboration between the Sussexes and Netflix might have ended, The Sun speculates that Paramount+ could be interested in a potential deal.

Neither Netflix nor the Sussexes have commented on the rumors surrounding the multi-million-dollar contract.
