Netflix Confirms Wednesday Season 3 And Hints At A Spooky New Spin-Off Series

We've all been eagerly anticipating the return of our beloved ghoulish, straight-faced diva to our screens in Wednesday season two. And while the return of our braided hero is imminent, the great news doesn't end there: Netflix has renewed Wednesday for a third season! I'd give Thing a high-five if I could!!!

The delightful (yet expressionless) announcement was confirmed by co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough on Thursday.

“Television has — and always will be — a team sport,” he expressed to Netflix’s Tudum.

“[Fellow co-creator] Miles Millar and I have been in this industry long enough to recognize that shows like this are rare gems. It's an extraordinary blend of writing, directing, acting, crew, streamer, studio, and fans. We are continuously grateful and thrilled to keep pursuing this journey and sharing these stories with all of our partners.”

Honestly, it’s not that surprising. Wednesday has been a celebrated success, with season one still reigning as the most-viewed English-language series on the streaming platform.

While season two is anticipated to delve into its dark comedy roots, Gough reveals that season three will broaden the world of Nevermore, introduce more characters, and delve deeper into the identities of the characters we already know and love.

“Our aim for Season 3 is consistent with every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday possible,” Gough explained.

“We want to continue exploring our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.”

So, season three is officially confirmed and ready to go by the decision-makers. However, that's not the only Wednesday-related scoop I have for you today. Rumor has it that a top-secret spin-off series is in development, and Gough even hinted at it during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s something we’re definitely considering; there are other characters we can explore,” Gough mentioned, before Netflix executive Bela Bajaria added, “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family.”

Exciting! Who could it be? Uncle Fester? Enid? Thing?!

Only time will tell, I suppose.

Part one of Wednesday season two premieres on August 6, with part two arriving on our screens on September 3.
