Rebel Wilson has offered her response to a recent lawsuit alleging she “deliberately undermined” the release of her latest film, The Deb.
In case you missed it, the Australian actress is at the heart of a lawsuit initiated by the movie's production company, A.I Film, presented to the NSW Supreme Court on Thursday.
The lawsuit accuses Wilson of disseminating false information about the film, allegedly breaching her contract and impacting the musical comedy's release in theaters.

Although The Deb — which is Wilson’s first film as a director — premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September last year, it has yet to see a wider release globally.
Wilson has now turned to Instagram to address the lawsuit, one of several involving the film, dismissing the claims that she hindered its release as “complete nonsense”.
“So apparently, I’m being sued in Australia?” Wilson noted on her Instagram Stories on Saturday.
“This makes no sense. As the director, producer, and co-star who developed a project called The Deb from a three-page concept into a beautiful feature film over five years, I want nothing more than to have this film released, and I've been tirelessly working behind the scenes to make this happen.
“Claiming otherwise is complete nonsense. I’m incredibly proud of the film!”, she expressed.

Wilson further described the lawsuit as “baseless” and emphasized the “imperative need for the movie’s release”.
“Many Australians put immense effort into this film … It’s been a year since the film was completed and ready for cinemas.
“Everyone involved in the movie and anyone who knows me is aware that I invested my blood, sweat, and tears into this,” she stated.
The Bridesmaids actress then shared a scene from the movie featuring the original song “F**k My Life”, explaining she opted to share it “now because if these f**kwits aren't going to release the movie, I might as well”.

The accompanying three-minute clip serves as the opening number in The Deb, featuring many of the film’s cast members, including Charlotte MacInnes.
Elsewhere in the NSW lawsuit, Wilson is accused of impeding the film’s release through legal threats and fabricating claims that MacInnes was the victim of “inappropriate conduct”.
However, A.I Film’s legal team maintains that MacInnes refutes ever experiencing harassment, asserting Wilson’s opposing claims are “groundless”.
This is one of several lawsuits surrounding The Deb, including a separate defamation case in the US accusing Wilson of falsely alleging Amanda Ghost, a producer, embezzled funds from the film.
The lawsuit is currently ongoing.
