Osbourne Family Brought To Tears At Tribute Procession To Ozzy Osbourne In Birmingham

Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne was celebrated by his fans during a public procession in his hometown of Birmingham, England, after his passing last week.

The 76-year-old departed on July 22, just weeks following his last ‘Back To The Beginning’ performance with the original Black Sabbath lineup. To honor the Prince of Darkness, thousands of fans gathered along the streets as he made his final journey through the town.

Ozzy’s body was carried by a hearse through the streets, his coffin adorned with a purple crucifix and matching flowers spelling out his name. Fans were heard chanting “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy” as a live brass band played, accompanying the procession down the road.

The ceremony was funded by the Osbourne family, with Osbourne’s wife, Sharon, and his children, Kelly, Jack, Aimee, and Louis, present.

Sharon and Ozzy had been married for over forty years, and she paid tribute to her late husband by wearing his wedding ring around her neck. Meanwhile, Kelly honored her father by donning his iconic circular glasses.

The family was deeply moved by the heartfelt messages left by fans at the bench dedicated to the “Into The Void” singer.

“It was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral,” stated Zafar Iqbal, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham.

“We understand how much this moment means to his fans. We’re proud to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all began.”

Ozzy passed away earlier last week, with his family releasing a statement announcing his death shortly thereafter.

“It is with a sadness that words cannot express that we announce the passing of our beloved Ozzy Osbourne this morning,” the statement read.

“He was surrounded by family and love. We kindly ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy during this time.”

Ozzy Osbourne was the frontman of the iconic Birmingham metal band Black Sabbath. The band has cemented its place in history as one of the most successful metal bands ever, heralded as pioneers of the genre. Ozzy, in particular, was renowned for his eccentric and flamboyant stage presence.

Later in his life, Ozzy gained fame as a television star when his family starred in the reality series The Osbournes. In 2019, Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and reportedly faced declining health over the past year.

He will be laid to rest in a private funeral service in the coming weeks.
